Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences provide comprehensive and modern radiology services at an affordable rate to all poor people in this region. The department is equipped to make an accurate disease diagnosis. It includes X-ray imaging, Fix and Portable X ray machine, Doppler Ultra Sound, 2D Echocardiography, C arm X-ray machine, ECG and PFT. Our staff consists of board certified radiologists and state licensed radiological technologists.

Service Availability

X-Ray and CT Scan Services:

    Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including:
  • • Non-working hours
  • • Sundays
  • • Public holidays

Ultrasound (USG) and MRI Services:

  • • Available only during regular working hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.
  • • Not available on Sundays and public holidays, except in medically justified emergencies.
  • • In emergency cases, on-call radiologists or tie-up centers may be used as per availability.

Off-Hours and Holidays Protocol:

  • • A designated on-call technician is available to perform X-ray and CT scans during night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • • For USG and MRI, emergency access requires approval from the duty medical officer, who may initiate referrals or coordinate with the on-call radiologist (if available).
  • • Display of the unavailability of CT, MRI, USG and such procedures are done in the Hospital’s website and updated time to time.

Emergency Cases

  • • In situations where Ultrasound or MRI services are unavailable during emergencies:
  • • Patients are referred to pre-approved tie-up diagnostic centers:
  • • A standardized referral form is completed, and transport is arranged by the hospital if necessary.
  • • The referring clinician must document the reason for referral and ensure timely follow-up of the report.

Absence of Radiologist

  • • If a certified radiologist is unavailable on-site or remotely:
  • • Non-emergency scans requiring interpretation (e.g., MRI, contrast CT, complex pathology) are postponed or referred to partner centers.
  • • Emergency imaging (e.g., trauma CT) may be conducted, and images shared electronically with on-call or partner radiologists for urgent interpretation.
  • • The referring physician is responsible for clinical correlation until final reporting is available.

Reporting and Documentation

  • • All radiology procedures are entered into the Hospital Information System (HIS) with complete patient and scan details.
  • • Reports must be:
  • • Reviewed and signed by a certified radiologist.
  • • Prioritized in emergencies, with a target turnaround of 2 hours.
  • • Interim verbal reports may be communicated to clinical teams in critical cases, followed by a signed written report.

Tie-Up Centre Protocols

  • • The hospital has formal Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with each tie-up diagnostic center.
  • • Each center must comply with standards regarding:
  • • Equipment calibration and maintenance
  • • Radiologist qualifications and licensing
  • • Report accuracy and maximum turnaround time of 6 hours for emergencies
  • • The hospital regularly audits these centers for quality assurance.

Patient Communication & Consent

  • • Patients and/or their families are:
  • • Clearly informed in advance when referrals are necessary.
  • • Provided with reasons for external referral and location of the tie-up center.
  • • Required to give written consent before transportation and diagnostics outside the hospital.
  • • Transportation support and patient safety are ensured throughout the process.

Quality Assurance

  • • All radiological equipment is:
  • • Subject to routine preventive maintenance and calibration
  • • Operated by qualified and certified technicians
  • • The Radiology Department performs:
  • • Internal audits of image quality and reporting timelines are conducted every quarter.
  • • Peer-review assessments of randomly selected cases to ensure diagnostic consistency.
  • • Radiology staff are encouraged and supported to:
  • • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME)
  • • Maintain up-to-date certifications in radiologic technology and interpretation
